Last night, it happened. The Yeezy Season 3 collection made its debut yesterday, February 11th at 4pm and it was everything you’d expect from Kanye.
The show was artistic, raw, exciting, and melodic as models of all shapes and colors stood in single file lines and stared blankly into the crowd while Kanye and friends created a mosh pit party around the sound booth. Each model stood at attention with pieces from the Yeezy collection either draping carelessly around their shoulders or tightly clinging to each curve of their bodies while West’s upcoming album, Waves, coaxed the attending crowd to groove in their seats . Throughout the show, you would see models slowly ease themselves to the ground and either sit or lay in their assigned spots to give their legs a break from standing. Although they were no longer standing at attention, they still looked like works of art, even in their state of relaxation. Sound unprofessional? Not at all, the models were given a list of rules prior to the event that gave them permission to sit, lay, or shift weight if they were tired of standing. Take a look at the list of rules below:
This season, West included few pops of color to his line this season which played well with his earth tones and cool colors. The Yeezy Season 3 collection introduced relaxation with luxury which defies the unspoken rule of fashion that style should always trump comfort. West is known for being a rule breaker so we shouldn’t be too surprised that he combined style and comfort. While there were many pieces that were amazing, there was one item that was my absolute favorite -- the women’s boots.
Now there is some controversy that the Yeezy women’s boot is identical to the shoes that Raf Simons created when he collaborated with Dior. In fashion, designers are inspired by other designers so I try not to get too caught up in the controversies.
Take a look at the pictures below from last night’s show. Leave a comment if you hate the collection or love it.
