To be honest, eating healthy during my extremely busy days is hard. Like, really, really hard. When I’m pressed for time, I usually opt for whatever is closest to my next errand or I’ll just listen to my rumbling belly and walk into the next greasiest, artery clogging, fast food joint that I see. Making poor decision like this always discourages me from pursuing the healthy eating lifestyle that I desire and I always feel brainless for not preparing better. To be totally honest, I don’t always feel like lugging around a lunch box to different meetings or events in the city and I don’t always have the time to sit down and enjoy a hearty, healthy, and expensive meal (Center City healthy spots are always the most expensive places to eat for a quick lunch). Recently, I found out about Snap Kitchen which is a shop that creates healthy pre-made meals for busy people. You literally walk into the store and select a meal or two (or however many you would like), pay and enjoy when you have the time.
All of Snap Kitchen meals are created by a chef and dietitian approved before it’s available for purchase, so whatever you choose to buy will leave your taste buds happy and your body healthy. What makes Snap Kitchen so unique is that they offer meals that cater to all eating preference. Some of their menu options include Vegan, Paleo, and Whole30. I know you’re excited about this phenomenon but if you’re a bit of a skeptic like me, I know you’re wondering if the quality and taste is worth the trip, so let’s make this an adventure and explore together.
This weekend, I decided to take a quick trip to my local Snap Kitchen, you can find your local Snap Kitchen by checking out their website. When I walked into the shop, and was greeted with simple, bright, and welcoming décor. There were built in refrigerators and cabinets that laced the walls with so many goodies. I spent the bulk of my time looking through the variety of meals that were readily available.
What I loved about Snap Kitchen is that all of their meals are color coded according to the type of meat (or lack thereof).
Red = Beef (and pork, I think)
Yellow = Chicken
Blue = Seafood
Green = Vegetarian & Vegan
Also, every container is microwave safe and on the label along with their in depth nutrition facts, there are reheating instructions! After about 30 minutes of reading, deciding, and chatting with Vinnie (Snap Kitchen extraordinaire) I finally settled for the Almond Butter Maple Pancakes, Hot Chicken with Collard Mac & Cheese meal, Chimichurri Beef meal, La Colombe coffee with almond milk, and a Green Tea. My goal is to make eating healthy for the day a non frustrating, no brainier type of experience.
After trying each of the individual products, I have come to my conclusion – Snap Kitchen is AMAZING! I would definitely recommend this market as a must try for anyone who has one in their city! The food was fresh, full of flavor, and I didn’t feel weighed down after eating my meals. It was such an easy process to just reach in my refrigerator or my bag and grab the next meal. I didn’t have to feel pressured to eat fast food or make an impulse decision on what I wanted to eat while I was out because I was able to pre plan my meal for the day. As an extra bonus, I was able to maintain my healthy eating throughout the day (HUGE accomplishment). If you’re interested in how I did this, I’ve included my day of eating video below:
