The New Year is literally a few days away and I can’t help but reflect on what amazing opportunities this year has brought me. I’ve attended fashion shows, I traveled to New York a few times for business, and I started a successful podcast! Yes, this year has been amazing but I’m ready for more. I’m ready for more challenges, more risks, and more success. I’m ready to turn my dreams into goals and my goals into reality. Here are a few things that I’m choosing to do this upcoming year in order to stay on track throughout 2017 to keep me focused. 2017 is about to be my best year yet!
Change Who I Follow On Instagram
Instagram is a huge tool that allows people to connect and pull inspiration from others that they would have never imagined. Towards the end of 2016, I realized there is a whole world of people on social media who inspire me and motivate me to want more for myself. This upcoming year, I want to mostly follow people who push me to work hard. While I will still follow my friends and family, there are some people that I don’t need to follow. While all 300 photos of your cat are great, Fluffy won’t help me to be a better entrepreneur, wife, sister, or daughter.
Choosing My Friends Wisely
Now, this doesn’t mean I have crappy friends but who I choose to spend my time with can and will affect my productivity. If I want more for myself, I have to make sure that I’m hanging with people who want more for themselves. I can’t tell you how many people I’ve met who have been content with where they were in life. If you look at some of the most influential people of our time, they are always looking for how they can improve themselves and that is how they remain successful. I need to surround myself with people who are going to push me to work hard and remind me to never give up and vice versa. Having people in my circle who want more for themselves will help me in the long run.
Attend More Networking Events
In the words of internet sensation, @LaLaSizaHands89, “when you network, you increase your net worth” and I couldn’t agree more. Attending networking events will present an opportunity to meet and engage people that are movers and shakers in my city. This is important for growing my personal brand and bringing attention to that brand. Having the desire to build an empire is great but people will only trust what they understand. I don’t want people to take me at face value; I want them to know that my brand truly has value.
Create More Content
I can say that I fallen off of the creative wagon and I’ve allowed my laziness to get the best of me. In the beginning of the year, I was writing 2-3 articles for the blog per week but once I left my last job, I slowed down drastically. While I can say that I was just taking time off and enjoying life, that wouldn’t be the complete truth. I honestly just lost my motivation because I allowed a life situation to get the best of me. This year, that won’t be the case. I love writing and creating content for my readers and I don’t want to just stop there. I want to include more original photos as well. Keep in mind, I still work full time but if there are others out there who can balance the two and more, I can too. I just can’t allow myself to be fearful of the hard work, early mornings, and short nights.
Hopefully my mini list for success helps you guys too! It can be applied for any business model or aspiring entrepreneur. 2017 is going to be an amazing year to those who are ready to put in the work without ceasing. You have greatness on the inside of you and you can obtain anything that you set your mind to. What do you want to accomplish in the year 2017? What do you want for yourself? Are you ready to work hard for it? Do it!
HAVE A WONDERFUL AND SAFE NEW YEAR!
