There is nothing worse than partying hard all weekend just to have it come to a crashing halt Monday morning. All of a sudden, the sky turns gray and just to get out of bed becomes an obstacle in itself. Well my friend, nothing will ever make Mondays truly enjoyable (unless you’re scheduled for a vacation somewhere tropical) but there are a few things you can do to make your Monday a lot more bearable.
Playing your favorite tunes has been recorded to help relax your mind. "Psychologist Daniel J. Levitin, PhD who studies the neuroscience of music at McGill University in Montreal says and his postgraduate research fellow, Mona Lisa Chada, PhD, found that music reduces stress. Listening to music was found to be more effective than prescription drugs in reducing anxiety before surgery" (Trends in Cognitive Sciences, April, 2013). Who knew just tuning into your favorite Pandora station could help you to release the stresses that Mondays bring?
This makes me super happy because I absolutely LOVE chocolate. Eating 1.4 ounces of dark chocolate a day can help to reduce stress hormones. So kick up your feet and treat yourself to a chocolatey snack to help you to conquer your miserable Monday. Keep in mind, dark chocolate is 235 per 1.4 ounce serving so don't go cocoa crazy if you're watching your figure.
Take a Walk
If you’re given a lunch break or even a short 15 minute break, use that time to break out of your office. Take a step outside and get some fresh air. Take a short stroll around your office building and stretch your legs for a bit. By the time you get back to your desk, you’ll feel a bit more energetic to finish your day and you don’t feel as stuffy sitting behind a desk all day.
Plan A Fun Activity After Work
Break out of your work clothes and plan something to look forward to at the end of your day. Plan an early dinner with friends, schedule an ultimate relaxation spa bath, head to your local gym and take a Zumba class. Whatever gets you excited, plan to do it! Who says you have to wait until Friday to have fun?
