YouTube Helps Me Feel Better

We all have days where life just feels dim and gray. No matter how hard you try, things just never seem to brighten up. The easiest and most natural way that we tend to deal with these moments is to let them take over, while some of us rely on vices to help get us through. The common demnominator for the both of these is that they don't help you out in the long run.
Allowing emotions "to take their course" puts a strain on your body due to the additional stress it adds. Vices, on the other hand, are never a healthy way to cope with any type of pain because the activities normally involve substances or actions that go against social norms that will leave greater damage to your physical, mental, and/or emotional state. My goal is to help you to find healthier ways to deal with these moments that seem unbearable.

As one who use to battle depression consistently (I still struggle, just not as often), I've taken time to successfully overcome dark moments without the aid of medication**. I've learned to do this by taking note of the things (movies, videos, activities , etc.) that put me in an amazing mood when I'm not feeling my best. As one who has used food, self-harm, and alcohol as methods to cope with dark times, these different outlets have helped me so much. For example, watching "Try Not To Laugh" challenges on YouTube is always a successful way to help me crack a smile even during my most difficult moments. Other times, travel vlogs, romantic comedy movies, or anime shows are my go-to method. Each of these things allow me to get my mind off of what's happening and I can get lost in another world for a bit of time. Here are a few of my favorite pick-me-ups during rough moments.

Side note: This list is not in any particular order, they all make me feel so great.
**The method that I've used to help me manage my depression is not meant to be used to diagnose, treat, or cure depression. If you or someone you know deals with depression, make sure you seek medical attention for a professional opinion.

YouTube

 Jenna Marbles

There's just something about her trial and error videos that make me cry from laughter.

Tokio Myers

Tokio Myer's passion is always captured in his music. There was no one more fitting to be the winner of Britian's Got Talent 2017.

Lenarr

This video came out right after the Soulja Boy (a.k.a. Big Draco *insert eyeroll*) when on the Breakfast Club, claiming that he was the reason for the creation of A LOT of different things. This parody will definitely be a laughter staple for the months to come.

The X Factor Season 4 Bad Auditions

It's only right that I follow up with some people who sing as bad as we feel. #Shade

My Bed Freestyle

I love any and all things Caleon Fox related, so it's only right SOMETHING of his is added. Also,  who doesn't love their bed?

NPR Tiny Desk Concerts

NPR Tiny Desk Concerts are definitely an amazing pick-me-up. All different types of musical creatives come to the NPR studios to showcase their newest musical projects in a raw, up close and personal setting. The most recent one I checked out featured my long-time favorite group, Phony Ppl. If you check out this set and like it, they have hundreds more for you to fish through.

I hope you've enjoyed the videos that I've shared. Being sad sucks, so if this blog post brought a bit of joy back into your day, my mission is complete.
